The Skeena, sockeye and Stewart

From Prince Rupert we headed east along the Skeena River, to Terrace. We hired a fishing guide and got on to many, many sockeye and coho. The next day, while admiring a waterfall on indigenous land, we learned about seeing Stewart, B.C. and nearby Hyder, AK. En route to both places there were so many beautiful viewpoints that they are not even signed as such. In tiny, eclectic Stewart we stayed at Ripley’s Inn (google it) and in Hyder we saw salmon spawning and grizzlies eating them. We will be heading north tomorrow and hope to be in a dark sky area on the 17th, where there’s a 75% chance of northern light activity. Crossing fingers and toes.
